I bought a toaster oven a few weeks ago. The box specifically stated that the toaster oven could handle cooking a whole chicken. So, I took it for a spin last night. It took me all of 15 minutes to prep the chicken, pop it in the oven and let it do its thing! It came out flavorful and moist! Just pair it with a veggie and whatever other side you like.
1 Whole Chicken (5lbs)
1 Clove of Garlic
I bought a 5 pound chicken, washed it in cold water, cleaned the cavity out, removed the gizzards, cut off any excess fat around the butt and placed the bird in a roasting pan. I preheated my toaster oven to 425°F. I patted it dry with a few paper towels and rubbed it down with olive oil. I coated it with garlic salt and black pepper giving the cavity the same treatment. Season as much or as little as you like. I cut one whole lemon in half and a few cloves of garlic. I then tossed them in the cavity.
I placed the bird in the toaster oven and let it bake for 15 minutes at 425°F. I turned down the heat to 375°F and let it bake another hour. The time may vary depending on the size of the chicken. When the juices run clear, it’s done! I pulled the chicken out and covered it with aluminum foil allowing it to rest for about 5 minutes before carving.
